The Best Time to Visit Cabo San Lucas: A Month-by-Month Guide

Timing your Cabo trip correctly can mean the difference between a flawless luxury vacation and a crowded, overpriced, weather-disappointing one. Here’s the honest month-by-month breakdown for anyone planning a stay at Villa Paraiso on Palmilla Beach.

December to March — High Season, Peak Luxury

The most popular time to visit Cabo. Temperatures range from 22-28°C (72-82°F), skies are almost universally clear, and the sea is calm and swimmable — particularly at Palmilla Beach. This is peak season for North American snowbirds, families on Christmas break, and luxury travellers chasing sunshine.

The catch: December 20 through early January brings peak crowds and peak rates — Christmas and New Year at Villa Paraiso command premium pricing and minimum stays. Book 6-12 months in advance for holiday travel.

February to March offer some of the best weather of the year: warm days, cool evenings, minimal rain, and the added bonus of whale watching season (December through April). Spring breakers arrive from mid-March, but the effect is mostly felt in the downtown club scene rather than at private villas.

April to June — The Sweet Spot

April and May are our favourite months at Villa Paraiso. The spring break crowds have dispersed, Easter week brings a brief spike, and then the coast clears. Temperatures climb to 28-33°C (82-91°F) — warm but not oppressive — and the Sea of Cortez is at its most tranquil.

June sees temperatures in the 30-35°C range and humidity starts to rise. The upside: significantly lower rates, empty beaches, and the beginning of the summer turtle-nesting season. For guests who don’t mind the heat, June is one of the best-kept secrets in Cabo.

July to September — Summer Savings, Fewer Crowds

Let’s be honest: this is Mexico’s hurricane season. That said, Los Cabos is on the Sea of Cortez side — the most sheltered coast from Pacific hurricanes — and direct hurricane hits on the southern Baja Peninsula are historically rare.

Expect hot, humid days (35°C+ / 95°F+), afternoon thunderstorms, and occasional tropical rain. The desert blooms after rain events, making the landscape unexpectedly lush. Rates drop to their lowest of the year, and the beaches are virtually empty. For heat-tolerant travellers seeking value and solitude, this is the hidden gem season.

October to November — The Second Wind

October brings the best of both worlds: the summer heat breaks, humidity drops, and the first cool nights of the autumn season arrive. Hurricane season is technically still running, but October is statistically one of the drier transition months.

November is one of our top recommendations for a Cabo visit. Temperatures settle back to 24-30°C (75-86°F), the Halloween and Day of the Dead celebrations in neighbouring towns add cultural colour, and rates haven’t yet hit their December peak.
