Cabo San Lucas punches well above its weight as a dining destination. The corridor between Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo has attracted some of Mexico’s most celebrated chefs, and the result is a restaurant scene that rivals much larger cities. From Manta at the Cape — designed by chef José Luis Chila — to a barefoot taco stand on the Malecon, Cabo has every level of dining covered. Here’s the honest, comprehensive guide.
Fine Dining in Los Cabos
Manta at The Cape Hotel in the Turivo corridor is the most celebrated restaurant in Los Cabos right now. Chef José Luis Chila’s menu weaves Pacific seafood with Mexican ingredients in a way that’s deeply local but globally ambitious. Book a table on the rooftop terrace for sunset — it’s one of the best dining views in Mexico. Reserving ahead is essential.
Seasons at the One&Only Palmilla has been a Los Cabos institution for over a decade. Chef Drew Decker’s approach to contemporary Mexican cuisine is polished and refined — the menu changes daily based on what’s at the market. The setting, inside the iconic pink hotel, is unmatched.
El Mercado at the Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal serves Mediterranean-influenced cuisine with a Mexican accent. The setting — perched on a volcanic cliff with the Pacific crashing below — is theatrical in the best possible way.
San José del Cabo — The Art District Dining Scene
The Thursday evening Art Night in San José del Cabo’s Gallery District is the best free experience in Los Cabos. Galleries open their doors, wine flows on the street, and the restaurants go all out. Casa Nostra is our top pick for this night — an Italian wine bar with one of the best Baja wine lists in the city, in a gorgeous courtyard setting.
La Lupuna is a San José institution for live jazz and elevated Mexican cuisine. The outdoor courtyard setting is romantic and relaxed — perfect for a slower evening. Taberna Baha on the main plaza has one of the best rooftop views in the city and a menu of regional Mexican share plates.
The Best Tacos in Cabo San Lucas
No visit to Cabo is complete without at least one meal at street level. The taco scene here is serious:
- Tacos Gussando — The local favourite near the Marina. Fish tacos,好好, and carnitas. Cash only, no signage, look for the line.
- Los Locos — On the Malecon near the Marina. Excellent shrimp tacos and Micheladas in a fun, open-air setting.
- La Shack — A food truck near the Pedregal entrance that consistently tops the lists for the best fish tacos in Cabo.
- Taco Loco — Known for their adobada (marinated pork) tacos and spicy salsa. A local institution.
Beachfront Dining
The Office on the Beach on Medano Beach is the definition of Cabo’s beachfront dining culture. Put your feet in the sand, order a margarita and the seafood platter, and watch the sunset over Land’s End. It’s tourist-friendly without being touristy — the locals love it too.
Solomon’s Landing on the Marina has excellent seafood and one of the best sunset views in town. The-menu is strong on fresh fish, ceviches, and local oysters from the Sebastián Vizcaino Bay.
Dining at Villa Paraiso
The best dining option in Cabo, however, is often the one that comes to you. Villa Paraiso’s in-house chef designs every menu around you — fresh Pacific seafood from the morning market, Baja wine pairings, and meals served on the terrace overlooking Palmilla Beach. Private chef dining is included with every villa booking — no surcharge, no menu limits. Ask our concierge to arrange a special dinner on the beach or by the pool.
